  35. Thanks for the informative posting, which I enjoyed. It reminds me of a
  36. precedent - in the Himalayas. The Japanese have a hotel high up in Solu Khumbu,
  37. near Mount Everest, with a private helipad/copter and oxygen piped into
  38. every room. When I was living in the region over some months in 1970/71,
  39. construction was nearing completion. I assume it's still operating.
  40. So there's a supporting experience to bolster the credibility of that
  41. story of yours. I don't know unfortunately who built the Himalayan hotel.
  42. Apparently the views are breathtaking through its panoramic windows,
  43. (which is really not difficult in this incredibly beautiful region).
  44. Prices are definitely in the luxury class. I can't comment in more detail
  45. personally, since at the time I was travelling around the world on a
  46. total of about $300! - a little out of my range then!

  59. I remember reading somewhere that some of the early moon landers had a
  60. wooden sphere on their base.

  62. The idea was that the sphere collapsed on landing, so reducing the impact
  63. I think this was in the days before controlled soft landings.
